Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh to Nairn
Culloden Visitor Centre
Travel to Culloden Moor to tour the Visitor Centre. Walk around the battlefield where, on April 16, 1746, British Government forces defeated the army of Prince Charles Edward Stuart in just one hour and ended hopes of restoring the Jacobite Stuarts to the British throne. The brutal measures imposed after the battle signaled the end of the distinctive Highland way of life and culture.
Clava Cairns
Next head to Inverness to visit the Clava Cairns, which have an atmosphere all of their own. These cairns, Built around 4,000 years ago as tombs, give their name to a set of thirty monuments which are distributed up and down the rivers around Inverness.

Enjoy an escape from the crowds by exploring the Luss hills. These hills have pronounced conical peaks, curving ridges and steep, smooth slopes which are often cut by birch-filled gullies.
